Like all cress varieties, it is characterised by its typical mustard-like, slightly pungent to peppery taste. It has a high content of vitamin C, iron, calcium and folic acid.
Cress loses its flavour quickly after cutting, so it is best to use it straight away. Cress should also not be washed, as it then loses its crunchy freshness and becomes muddy.
