It is believed that turmeric originated over 4000 years ago in South East Asia or South Asia. It has been cultivated since ancient times and grows in tropical and subtropical regions and thrives best in warm, humid areas.

Turmeric contains vitamins B1, B2 and C as well as potassium, magnesium, calcium and sodium.

The turmeric root is best kept wrapped in a cloth in the fridge, ideally in the vegetable drawer, between 4° C and 8° C.
