Artichokes

The artichoke originally comes from the eastern Mediterranean and is thought to date back to the 1st century. It made its way to Central European countries from the 15th century.
The flavour of the artichoke is rather tart, slightly bitter, but also nutty.

It contains vitamins C and B6, as well as folic acid, magnesium, phosphorus and antioxidants.

Wrapped in a damp cloth, the artichoke can be stored in the vegetable compartment of the fridge for up to 7 days.
