Artichokes white

The frost-sensitive artichokes have their origins in the eastern Mediterranean, where they grow in the wild and were spread by the Arabs. They were introduced to Central Europe in the 15th century. They were also introduced to the USA at the end of the 19th century.

Artichokes are rich in vitamin C, K, folic acid, magnesium and phosphorus.

Wrapped in a slightly damp cloth and stored in the vegetable drawer of the fridge, artichokes will keep for 5 to 7 days.
