The flesh of the blood orange has a dark, partly deep red pigmentation. The darker it is, the more the blood orange differs in taste from the normal orange. Their taste is then very sweet and
reminiscent of berries.
The red discoloration of the blood orange depends on the climate. The more different the temperature is from day to night, the stronger the red colour of the blood orange. Therefore, the Mediterranean area is ideal for the cultivation of the blood orange. It is available from December to April.
