The Weißenhorn Dairy

In 1928, 24 farmers in the Weißenhorn area joined forces to form a “dairy cooperative for the production of butter and fresh milk. The goal was to improve farmers incomes through collective action. This event marked the beginning of the Weißenhorn Dairy s success story. Thanks to its early founding, it is now one of the oldest dairies in southern Germany. Over the course of its long and eventful history, the company has had to weather various economic crises and setbacks. However, these challenges strengthened the company and contributed to the expertise it possesses today.

Above all, the decision in 1989 to enter into a partnership with Bioland propelled the dairy forward and marked a successful strategic turning point. The Bioland seal stands for our philosophy of operating sustainably and with foresight. Throughout the entire natural cycle, we conserve water, air, soil, and the climate for future generations.

Over the years, not only has the dairy developed into a successful medium-sized company, The product portfolio has also been expanded, particularly in recent years. At our sole location in Weißenhorn, in the Swabian region of Bavaria, we focus on exquisite flavor, innovative products, and a strict commitment to enjoyment. The product expansion has primarily focused on the premium product segment and the dessert category. Continuous improvement of our products and uncompromising quality are our guiding principles.

The approximately 65 employees currently working at the Weißenhorn Dairy ensure that milk from the surrounding area is processed at the dairy into a variety of fresh creams and delicious dessert products. We also prioritize sustainability and a down-to-earth approach when processing Bioland milk.

Fresh Bioland milk forms the basis for our premium products. It comes from farms in our region and is delivered to the Weißenhorn Dairy every other day. The route is divided into a northern and a southern leg. On our website (www.weissenhorner.de), you have the unique opportunity to take both routes aboard our milk truck and learn more about our farmers.

When it comes to milk delivery and processing, we prioritize quality over quantity. Behind all our products lies a long tradition and a great deal of care in their production. Our dairy is also distinguished by the fact that we still produce as much as possible entirely by hand. For example, the herbs for our fresh herb cream are weighed individually and mixed in one by one. Similarly, for our Bircher muesli which makes an excellent healthy snack the individual ingredients are weighed by hand and added one after another to the yogurt mixture. The fruits are also added individually and without any form of preparation. This artisanal character is reflected in all our products. It was particularly important to us that the ingredients be sourced as locally as possible and that production take place exclusively in Weißenhorn.

Our goal is to produce high-quality, delicious products. We strive to combine indulgence with mindful eating!
