Dates

Dates originate from the Middle East and North Africa, where they have been cultivated for over 6,000 years. According to archaeological findings, the cultivation of date palms dates back to the 5th millennium BC. Today, dates are grown in many countries, especially Tunisia, Israel, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Dates taste sweet and have a honey-like flavour, which depends on the variety and the drying process.

Dates contain vitamins B1, B2, B6 and C, as well as potassium, magnesium, calcium and phosphorus.

Dates are best stored in a cool, dry and dark place in a cardboard box, which should be covered to prevent the dates from drying out and forming mould. Store fresh dates at room temperature if you plan to consume them within the next 4 to 6 weeks.
