Limes

Limes originate from India or Malaysia. The most popular and widespread variety, the Persian lime, comes from what is now Iran and Iraq and has been cultivated for centuries in many subtropical and tropical regions around the world.
Limes are green and round and have a sour taste with a subtle spicy note.

They contain vitamins A, B, C, D and E, as well as the minerals sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulphur and chloride.

If you store limes at room temperature in a dark, dry place, you should use them within five days.
For longer storage, limes should be kept at between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius in a cool cellar or pantry, where they will keep for up to three weeks.
They will keep for three to four weeks in a bag in the refrigerator.
