Melons are among the lightest fruits. For comparison: 100 grams of honeydew melon has 54 calories, 100 grams of banana has almost 100 calories. The secret of melons is their high water content: a watermelon consists of around 90 percent water. Melons also provide many healthy nutrients: provitamin A, vitamins of the B group, vitamin C as well as iron, zinc, iodine, potassium and other vital substances.

The melon is suitable for many different delicacies: It can be enjoyed pure or in hearty salads, together with cheese or ham as an aromatic starter or in sweet desserts.
