The Opal apple originally comes from the Czech Republic. It is a hybrid of the ‘Golden Delicious’ and the ‘Topaz’. As it is a protected variety, it can only be cultivated with the appropriate
authorisation.
Its flavour is aromatically sweet with a firm flesh. When cut, its flesh does not naturally turn brown.

Like all apples, it contains provitamin A, vitamins B1, B2, B6, E and C, niacin and folic acid, as well as potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron.
The storage of Opal is no different from that of other apples. Cool, dark rooms, for example the cellar, are best suited for this.
