Welcome to Sanchon, the organic food artisans.
We are the organic food artisans at Sanchon. We prepare food with love, patience, expertise, and plenty of hands-on work. We never put anything in the pot
that you wouldn’t also use in your own kitchen at home—whether in Thailand or Italy. Because we know you don’t always have time to cook, we take some of the work off your hands. Here in
Steinheim, German vegetables meet Indian curry. That’s exactly how we work together—open to the colorful diversity of the world.
Our spreads add variety to your bread. With our cooking sauces and curry pastes, your pot becomes a stage for Asian street food, and our sauces ensure things
get spicy.
We’re at home in Steinheim and in kitchens around the world. Our roots lie in the Petersilchen organic grocery store in Detmold. That’s where, in the
mid-1990s, organic shop owner Peter Vogel—who wanted good spreads for his bread—met Matthias, a globetrotting chef who was eager to make them. He did so in a way that quickly had more and
more people coming to love the taste. Christof Henne, another globetrotter with extensive cooking experience, joined the team. Together, they came up with an idea: the wonderful food they’d
enjoyed on their travels—in hospitable families, small eateries, and at street food stalls—should be available right here, without having to travel far.
At Sanchon, we’re convinced that good food is down-to-earth—it doesn’t need any frills. Because we know you don’t always have time to cook, we’ll take the
work off your hands. We chop onions and garlic, sauté eggplant and tomatoes, and season with herbs, curry, and more. That leaves you with more time to simply enjoy your meal. We prepare
food the way good food is prepared: with love, patience, expertise, and plenty of care. We put the same ingredients in the pot that you’d
use in your own kitchen at home—whether in Thailand or Italy. When it comes to the authenticity of the recipes and balancing the flavors of the ingredients, we’re patient—and sometimes
downright picky. Matthias and Christof aren’t satisfied until it truly tastes the way they’ve experienced it on their travels.
It goes without saying that Sanchon is fully committed to organic farming. After all, good food simply
doesn’t mix with pesticides in the fields or genetic engineering of plants.
Because we’re committed to organic farming and believe in sustainable practices, Sanchon products are available at
specialty natural food stores.
Here in Steinheim, German vegetables meet Indian curry. That’s exactly how we work together: open to the colorful diversity of the world. After all, food is
probably the tastiest path to international understanding.
The “with” is important to us: with good ingredients, with flavor, and with care. Then the “without” actually follows naturally. We prefer to say “with
plants” rather than “without animals.” By the way: Sanchon has always been vegetarian—and often
vegan, too. Not because it’s currently trendy, but because we stay true to ourselves.
We’re persistent—maybe even a little stubborn. After all, our name comes from Don Quixote’s squire. Sancho
Panza and his donkey are our favorite heroes: down-to-earth and practical, lovers of good food, with both feet firmly on the ground and a hand on the wooden spoon. Following the example of
Sancho Panza and his knight, we fight against the windmills of industrial food production and defend the honor of true culinary delights. Enjoy
your meal.
