White turnips

Turnips have been known in Europe since ancient times and, like the potato, were a staple food.
They are a cross between kohlrabi and turnip.
Turnips have a mild, sweet, spicy flavour and can be eaten both raw and cooked.
There are many varieties of turnips: white, yellow, white-purple, butter, navets, etc.

They contain vitamin C, various B vitamins as well as iron, zinc and beta-carotene.

Turnips are best stored in the fridge, where they will keep for three to four days.
