Yellow pepper

Nowadays, peppers are grown everywhere in tropical zones. Originally, the pepper varieties and species come from Central and South America.
Peppers are imported from the Netherlands and Spain all year round. In summer they are also imported from Hungary, and from Egypt during the winter months if the harvest in Spain and the Netherlands is not sufficient.

The fruit is very colourful. Their colour indicates the degree of ripeness. Red, orange, yellow, brown and white are the ripe varieties. Green, black and purple are the unripe ones. Peppers are very versatile. They can be used cooked, raw, as a spice, in pastes and sauces.
They have a sweet flavour when ripe. The unripe varieties, on the other hand, are somewhat bitter.

It is a good source of vitamin C, but is also rich in potassium, magnesium, zinc, vitamins A and B.
